The map pack — those three businesses with stars under the map — gets more taps than every website result below it. Here is how to get into it and stay there.
Step 1 — Claim it properly
Search your business name on Google Maps. If a listing exists, claim it; if not, create it at business.google.com. Use your real business name exactly as it appears on your sign — adding "Kingston" or "best" to the name is the fastest way to get suspended.
Step 2 — Pick the right primary category
This is the biggest ranking factor you control. "Car rental agency", not "Transportation service". "Pest control service", not "Business". Add secondary categories for everything else you do.
Step 3 — Fill every field
Hours (including holidays — Jamaican public holidays trip up a lot of profiles), phone with WhatsApp, website, service area if you travel to customers, and the full services list with a short description each. Google matches searches against those descriptions.
Step 4 — Photos that look like a real place
Storefront, inside, team, work in progress, products. Twenty real photos beat one logo. Add a few every month; Google notices activity.
Step 5 — Post weekly
An offer, a finished job, a tip, a new product. Posts expire from view after a week, which is exactly why weekly matters. This is the part most businesses stop doing after month one — and the part that keeps you in the pack.
Step 6 — Reviews, with a system
Get your review link (Share profile → Write a review). Send it after every completed job with one line: "If we did well today, a quick Google review helps us more than you know." Reply to every review, good or bad, within a day. Never buy reviews — Google is good at spotting them and removes the lot.
Step 7 — Q&A and messaging
Ask and answer your own common questions on the profile (parking, delivery, deposits). Turn on messaging if you will actually answer within hours.
What gets Jamaican profiles suspended
- Keyword-stuffed business names
- A P.O. box or a home address for a business that claims a storefront
- Multiple profiles for the same location
- Sudden bursts of reviews from new accounts
How long until it works?
Weeks, not months — the profile is the fastest-moving part of local SEO. If you would rather hand it to someone, Google Business Profile management is J$10,000 a month with us, setup J$12,000 if starting from nothing.
